Pets are good, those who said they suck. I can do constant 150 damage against Warriors for crying out loud, more than I could do constantly with other melee, discounting Dervish, plus it's basically a ranged attack with you staying out of trouble! Enraged Lunge rocks.

Guildwiki says;'Dire pets do, on average, 13% more damage than Hearty pets'
But, about the scrolls, seriously? o_0 Just had 2 'Snow Wurm'-runs with my pet, with 2 scrolls that ehm,... Give you 250% exp for 5 minutes, and my Raven just hasn't levelled up yet >_>.

Leveling pets.
I am not really concerend how my pets evolve. I was wondering whats the easiest way to level them, besides go out and kill things.
A decent area with lots of things I can sick my pet on, do they have lower amounts of XP required before they level?
Thanks alot

The easiest way would be just to death level them. There is few vids on youtube about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Kp4kbzvoRw

hmmm am not sure because with heros you can disable their healing skills so that they will only res you that way you can constantly be dieing to lvl the pet. I think you'd be better off finding a friend with some time and heros to help ya out.

Personally what I did for my cheap "don't-care-about-evolution" method was to take my pet with me when doing SS/LB farming in Nightfall. He may be dead from sulfur, but he still gains experience
BUT since you don't have heroes you don't have Nightfall, so I would suggest doing another version of death leveling involving getting the pet to spawn on a res shrine, so you can go out solo, keep respawning, and then he keeps killing.

could you just get the pet to aggro you, then don't attack it and lead it to the res shrine so that when you spawn it's still there?

In PVE dire is totally the way to go.. No DP on pets so just rez it if it dies, but the main thing is that AI will target your dire pet more than anyone else so it will greatly reduce the pressure on your team. In PVP I'd still use dire if you can.. It's like running a weapon without a damage mod on it..

The only time i use my pet is for ursan ranger dont really have a good source of e-management besides the mantras. So i use the pet with symbiotic bond and a pet tanking build. that way i take no damage while still getting the energy back.

Wikia wiki suggests that the SS/LB farm is a good way to get a Dire pet.
Which is true?

Yes, do it the old fasioned way. Cap a pet then bring him with you while you progress through the campaigns. You can find different builds to evolve the pet how you like, and if you don't care about how it specifically turns out, then just adventuring with you pet as a fast enough way to lvl it up. I think death lvl'ing is really a waste of time.

You can cap some white elder tigers in The Kurzick side of factions starting at level 15, or you could do the 'Beak of Darkness' quest to obtain a Dire Black Moa. You could level up your pet in Alliance Battles. It all depends what evolution you want your pet to become, or even if you care.

If you want dire evolution, you can get your pet to smack around the dummies in the Isle of Nameless for some time before taking him with you to the Desolations. The pet will die when you get into Junundu and go over to the part with sulfur gas, but it will still receive experience and no damage.

Just out of curiosity, if you're a monk why do you have a pet, and if you're not going to be bringing him with you, why are you trying to lvl it?
